Not sure what Maisy had done yesterday but when we got back from our hike we noticed blood everywhere, turned out Maisy had quite a nasty cut on her paw which wouldn't stop bleeding.
I applied a liberal amount of Cayenne pepper and covered it with a couple of band-aids. The bleeding stopped almost immediately and it looked much better this morning. We applied some new band-aids and set off for another hike !

Some wild strawberries were starting to emerge~

This Balsam Fir is one of the most blister dense I've ever seen. I'm sure I could have filled a jam jar with the resin if I'd wanted to !

A quick check to see how the wounded soldier was holding up !

Sucks that Maisy got cut, glad she is still able to hike with you though! Your pics wouldn't be the same without Maisy in some of them.

Good stuff Pit. That balsam fir sap would be good stuff in the band-aid as well, albeit, she'd get sap over everything when you got home. Thanks for sharing.

Quite right Ken, I often use Balsam sap myself. I have found though that the Balsam is no good for heavy bleeding as the blood just washes it away as quickly as you are adding it. For heavy bleeding the Cayenne definitely works the best and quickly stops the bleeding !

Love to see your trips and companions. Here's to a full and quick recovery to Maisy!

Cool shots bro. My old lab did the same thing once. He was bleeding pretty bad but wouldn't stop running long enough to let it stop. I had to short tie him to a tree to get him to stay off it long enough to let the blood clot and the wound close.

Sorry to hear Maisy was injured, but not surprised that she didn't let it slow her down. Dogs are amazing that way.

Great photos Pit.

Thanks for the kind comments everyone. Maisy is fine again now, you can hardly see where it was, we have just been for a hike and she was running and swimming in the sea just like a pup again !

Can't keep a good dog down man.

Huh... Okay, I'm curious now. How do you prepare the pepper before applying it to the wound?
