An interesting target materialAbout

About a year ago, I had a new woodstove put in my cabin. The new stove weighed in at over 400lbs. The box that the stove came in was made of a super heavy duty cardboard material that looked like great target back board material. It was so durable that I had to cut the box apart with a saws-all. The sheets were about 36" by 48" and an inch thick. One sheet would stop an arrow from my 55lb bow at 25' and two sheets stop bolts from my 150lb crossbow at 25' So it was only a matter of time before I started throwing at this stuff indoors. I use it in the basement and it stops anything I throw while allowing an easy and point saving penetration.

So I called my stove installer a couple of weeks ago since the weather is getting cooler and last week he delivered a number of these boxes to me on his way by the house. When he installs stoves the new owners generally want the boxes removed. This super heavy-duty cardboard seems to be ideal for all sorts of target uses. So if you know an installer or even someone who sells stoves in your community you may be able to score some of this great target material. Anybody else try it?

I am assuming no one else has tried this stuff? A buddy asked me what kind of stove it came from and the heaviest of it is marked Buck Stove on the outside but apparently this type of stuff is used on several brands of stove because I have different sizes and shapes as well as differing thicknesses. I have even used the end flaps taped together four thick to replace some of my outdoor target log ends. Rain does little to break it down.
