An interesting test of knives across a broad price range.

I love his channel too. He's not a knife nut like some of us, but overall he does great videos on tons of products.

Thought some would find this an interesting watch.
Very thourough test. About the only thing missing is maybe a section on retained sharpness after maybe some 100 half inch rope cuts. To see which edge retains the most sharpness. Very cool comparison though.

Seems like a helluva lot of information, but he is completely missing the "feel of quality". A cheap $18 knife may cut things, be light, or heavy, or thick, but how does it "feel" in the hand, and under hard use? I'm not a farmer or a peasant, I sure don't want to carry an opinel, no matter what it weighs! I guess he is a farmer, so what does he know about STYLE?!?

Only had time to watch about half of it, mixed feelings. Of the knives he tested, I own several Buck 110s and a couple Opinels (the outliers of his sample set). Many of the others seem more similar to each other than to the ones I have.

I’m generally in favor of knife knuts sharing data. That said, I wonder how useful this particular data is for user knives.

One thing I found annoying was his reading the advertisements for each knife. “Able to be easily and safely closed with one hand!” (as he closes it with two hands)

The BESS scores are interesting, but fairly meaningless IMHO. Or perhaps I should say, they’re only meaningful once, and only at that one spot on the edge. Skin a deer, carve a turkey, scrape one head gasket, and you’ll never see the same score again. Sharpness isn’t a constant value on a user knife.

I guess YT reviews just aren’t my thing in general, but I’m glad they’re out there for you to enjoy.
