Hello;
I've been lurking here for a while, and am grateful for all the knowledge on the forum. I have always had/used axes and mauls, but just in the past year or so caught the bug. Anyway here is a picture taken a month or so ago. Some are keepers, and some have moved on to new owners, with others taking their place.

From left to right:
1. 28" maul
2. unmarked brush axe (my grandfathers)
3. Proud Made in china maul. I have put this to more use than any other tool here.
4. Pickaroon
5. Helko Pathfinder hatchet
6. Helko 6lb Yankee
7. Bluegrass with phantom bevels and short handle. One of my favorite users.
8. Old unmarked double bit I fashioned an axearoon from.
9. Marbles (El Salvadore) DB hatchet
10. 60-70s era Gransfors DB
11. Unmarked ridge-eye (Kelly?) DB One of the hardest pieces I have put a file to.
12. Plumb
13. Plumb AU-TO-GRAF. Gift from an old friend.
14. Husqvarna multi purpose.
15. Bark spud unmarked. Ridiculously long handle I know. Have not decided on how long yet.
16. Unmarked ridge eye boys axe.
17. Bark spud unmarked
18. Marbles 3lb double bit with a cruiser handle.
19. Unmarked ridge eye Jersey.
20. True Temper Dayton.

davemonkey, Welcome! What a great first post. You look to have all your wood chopping, processing bases covered.

Very, Very nice collection. I'm still looking to get my first! Welcome.

d you recommend? a Husqvarna multi purpose or a condor greenland 26" axe?

Beg, borrow or steal one of each of these, and severely field test them yourself. Both are ordinary modern axes and nobody will ever come to the same conclusion when asked for advice. Essentially what you're looking at are 'boys axes' and the world is your oyster if you start looking further afield and are willing to learn about the golden oldies.

Nobody needs that many axes. You should fit in well here with the rest of us.

That Plumb Au-to-Graf looks pretty good. A very nice gift. Looks like that one has plenty of life left in it.

Thanks for sharing your axes with us.

I like the Husqvarna, but that is just personal preference. As mentioned if you want new in that price range there are a number of options. Council tools, Snow & Nealley, and Helko all have similar axes that come in under $100. Also as many here would suggest you can't go wrong with a good vintage boys axe.
