Hello All!

I've been lurking here for a while, and thought it was about time to share. I finished this up last night for a friend of mine, and named it the "Kane" It is the first of it's kind I have made, and it's my buddies middle name, so I figured it was a good choice for a name.

I've been making blades for a couple months now, and this is my 4th.

Any criticism is welcome!

Blade is 3.25" long, D2, .125 thick
.125" Ti Handles, and red maroon micarta sale.
PB washers

I posted this in another category, but thought maybe I would put it here too…

I'm not exactly sure where to post this, I have done it a couple other different places, but just wanted to say Hi…

The overall project looks good as far as the design and work making the parts, but there are some technical problems.

My first impression is that it is way too thick and heavy. 1/8" is really thick for a folder.
The second thing that strikes the eye, is that the fitting and finish of the hardware is really poor. The screws just look screwed in with no seats cut or anything.

thanks blade!

only the lock side is 1/8", the liner/scale side is .08

as far as the screws, they are countersunk, maybe just not enough…

I think he was saying the 1/8" blade is too thick. There's no reason a pocket knife needs to be so heavy. Just my personal taste, but I still like to see either a nail nick or a thumbstud.

"1/8 to thick for a folder?"..... Well that depends on if you want a thick folder. Have you seen the plethora of big folders swamping the knife world? They are in vogue ...big time

HA! EXACTLY… and I thought I was going "thin" with 1/8"… a lot of what I have seen are 5/32 on up to over .2

it really isn't that heavy. I haven't weighed it, but it feels fine clipped to the pocket of my jeans. I certainly could make one even thinner though...

It looks rough but functional to me. How smooth is it and how well does the ? frame lock work?

Hey BoT! What do you mean by rough? the lock side texture? it's sandblasted and stonewashed... so it's got some texture to it. As far as the lock, it works great. Here's a video to show the smoothness and lockup. I probably should have lubed the pivot and detent to really make it smooth, but this video of it dry will have to do for now.

Thanks for checking it out!

Your blade and texture look fine. The finish along the edge where you cut out the frame lock could be cleaner and blend in with the hole you drilled. Also your torx heads seem to be bunged up a bit. I think improving these areas would bring your fit and finish up to match the rest of your knife. Also, as noted, countersinking the screw heads on your clip would neaten things up a bit. Your video shows that your knife performs well as to opening and closing.

Understood! Thank you!!
