I'm relatively new here, been a member for a couple of years but never posted anything. I'm just an old cracker from the piney woods of the Florida panhandle.
I've been making knives now for about eight years, four and a half years full time. I'm a stock remover but I really love the knives that you blade smiths make.
Here are a few examples of my most recent work, they are both fixed blades but I make more folders than fixed blades.
The details of these knives are posted here in the knifemakers gallery forum, here are the pictures.
The first one is an 8" chefs knife I made and donated to be raffled to raise funds for breast cancer awareness, that's why the pink ribbon.
The second is a hunter that a customer ordered as a gift for his cousin.
Any questions, comments or constructive criticism are welcome.
Y'all enjoy,

Exceptional knives with very clean lines and attention to detail.

It looks like you know how to grind, design, and finish.

I looked through your website and really liked the Big Brother model.

Hahah, I had to laugh at the knife named the "Taliban Stabber". :D

Hello Calvin, there's no doubt from looking at your knives that you are very talented.
Your overall execution, and especially your dove tail bolsters look very well done.
Also, Good for you for supporting the fight against cancer.

If I may offer a little constructive criticism, your maker's mark is overbearing to me.
It's the first thing I notice when looking at some of your knives. To me, the fine elements of the
knife should be the first thing to demand attention, then the mark.

Very clean work, you do a fine job and thanks for posting your work. :)

I'd love to have one of your folders.... ;)

Good to see you here Calvin. We talked at the A.G. Russell knife Event. I'm the guy that flew all the way over from the Netherlands.

Guys Calvin makes some really cool stuff including a some slipjoints, one of which he won the innovation award for at the A.G. Russell show in August.

Thank you Kevin,
My mark is usually much smaller but I used the big version on these two,on the cancer knife because it is a BIG knife and all I'm getting out of it is publicity,on the other one because I know the person it is going to.

Dayum - I am starting to think Kevin is my brother from another mother! For about the umpteenth time lately, he says what I was going to say, before i say it, and better than I could say it.

I would only add two things from my perspective as a collector.

1) Personally, I prefer to see the maker's mark closer to the handle - on the ricasso, rather than on the cutting surface of the bade itself.

2) I would prefer a tapered tang on that hunter.

But those are just personal preferences.

I enjoyed seeing your knives. Thanks for posting them!

I like your slip-joints. Several are listed on your website as available but I can not figure out how much they cost.

There are some shown as available that have been sold, the guy that handles my website is slooowww to make changes that I request,he is supposed to be adding prices for available knives but I think he is in dire need of one of those roundtuits.
Pm me or fill out the contact form on the website or email me at calvinshandmadeknives and I will help you.

It makes me happy to be so well received here.
Tapered tangs are something I haven't attempted as of yet,one of these days I will.
