Hello, all. My name is Bob Brandl, and I'm an aspiring bladesmith, as you might have guessed. I'm from Western North Carolina, and have been at this for something in the order of seven years, but am only now getting to a point that I'm able to get some business taken care of. Damascus is my new thing, and I'm loving it! And with that, here are some photos of a few pieces I finished up this year, and here's hoping I follow them up with many more that are much better, haha. Thanks for looking.

Welcome, please continue to post examples of your work here.
I love Damascus as well and you have some nice patterns.

Hey Shelby.

Thanks for everyone's kind words. Regarding the stamp: There actually was a stick figure, but it was both hokey and lacking, so I wound up not going with it. That, and I don't yet have a way of marking blades. Stickfigureforge was just the handle from when I joined the forum a few years ago. Coming soon, though...I hope

Said it before and will say it until I turn blue....

Mark your blades....with a clear mark that at the very least identifies who made the knife.

Without that, it is a mystery blade, and unless it gets used up and thrown away....the worth is highly arguable.

"Attributed to" does not go very far in the knife world with good reason.

Patterns and damascus look nice, if they are for the kitchen, tube rivets collect food bits in them.

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

And once I am able to do so, I will be sure to mark them immediately. Not able to right now, so I don't. As to the tubing, it was an exercise, and I was happy with it. Thanks for yours and Dawkind's kind words on the damascus and the knives overall. Might be doing something kind of right, haha.

You can get a standard acid etch system made in California for well under a $100.00. There are companies in Rhode Island and Arkansas that will sell you a name stamp for even less.
