Has anyone come across a S1 Bowie with a split bullet logo?

The knife in question has all the right markings except for the logo.
The S1 wasn't produced after 2005 yet the split bullet logo wasn't in use till 2006/2007 (as far as I can tell).

I haven't posted the link (evil bay), if your curious search:
SOG Vietnam 5th Special Forces Fighting Knife, Seki, Japan, No Res.!

I'm not saying it's a fake as it's not claimed to be a S1, but I'm stuffed if I can work out what model it is.

Any thoughts?

Cheers
Shane

Hello, Shane:

I do believe this knife to be the SOG Bowie Commemorative (S1C.) It is shown on "Evilbay" without the accompaning wooden box. See the SOG 2007 Catalog (link to the catalog pdfs given by you.)

The one on eBay doesn't have a serial number engraved on the guard. I believe all S1C's were serialised.

This is a very strange knife. The SOG 2006 catalog shows the S1C knife with a "SOG-in-the-box" logo and the SOG 2007 catalog shows the S1C knife with the "split-bullet" logo.

Hi Shane,

The S1C was in production for a couple of years, from around 2006 - 2008. It was produced with the split bullet logo, gauging by the pictures we have.

At our site, we normally refer to the two SOG logos as:
1. The "square SOG" - for older knives
2. The "split bullet" logo - for newer knives

defiant-1, SOG may not have decided whether to use the new split-bullet logo for the S1C at the time of printing/release of the 2006 catalog.

Do feel free to contact us if you need any more help.

Hello, Sogfans:

Thanks for the update on the "odd one." Greatly appreciated. The one thing that made the knife in question extremely odd was the fact that it looked like a S1C with a "split bullet" logo, but it did not have a serial number (I emailed the seller and he said it did not have a serial number engraved on it.)

Did SOG make S1C knives without an engraved serial number?

Thanks,
D1

I just checked out the auction, it is #360419360643 if I am correct.

The knife has the square SOG logo though, maybe the seller changed the pictures?

It is an authentic S1 Bowie, but the gun bluing has worn off and the seller has either given the knife a beadblasted finish or has applied some grey coating on it.

Greetings from Russia, comrades!
I have a great desire to buy SOG S1 Bowie with gun-blued blade. My brain exploded about this knifе back in 1992 while watching thе Terminator 2.
The question is: do all of the knives of this model have the "De oppresso liber" logo on the blade or not? There is an offer to buy one without this logo and i'm worried about possible fraud.
I would appreciate any help very much! Thank you.
