Hey, folks. I've recently developed a taste for slipjoints after finding the first pocket knife I was ever given as a child buried in my bedside table drawer. I was about 8, and my grandfather gave me one of his, a Case. But I digress...
In an effort to avoid carrying the vintage knives given to me by relatives, I decided to get a GEC based largely from reading this forum. A friend of mine carries a Case Backpocket and while I really liked the design, it felt fragile. I grabbed a Northfield Pioneer with a single blade and a lanyard hole to get the feel of the Backpocket with a little more girth. Overall I'm impressed with the feel and design, but have had my nail slip out of the nick a few times. I'm thinking that it might be because the nick is a little shallow as it is located in the swedge on the to of the blade. I love the look of the swedge, and will learn to work with it, so on to my question...
Can anyone tell me if the nail nicks on the Tidioute Pioneer, which doesn't have a swedge, are any deeper? And no, I'm not looking for an excuse to buy another Pioneer! Really!
