first off, let me apologise for not having pics. I don't own this knife. it is at a junk store in town. all I know about it is that it is an older case xx. it has thin yellow handles and two blades. both blades open in the trapper style, off of one end of the knife. one is a clip point, almost like a barlow blade. the other is a pen blade. the clip point, aside from some rust and patina, looks to be somewhat unused. the pen blade is blunt tipped and seems to have gotten more use. IIRC, the handle is not curved towards the butt of the handle like a trapper, but is straight from the bolster to the base of the handle. the knife would be in fair to good condition with good snap to both blades. the asking price is $95. can anyone id the knife (a pic would help) and is the price fair? thanks

Junk stores are notorious for pricing old knives way too high. That said, if you can go back to the store with a magnifying glass, and read what is stamped on the back and front of the blades, it will help! Write down all markings as you find them, including any "dots" beside or under the other markings. We may then be able to help you.

thanks guys. I may pay another visit tomorrow. the power was out in the town the other day, so i couldn't get the numbers off of the blade. I'll give it a shot when I get back there.

The only knife that comes to mind meeting your description is a 32024-1/2, a knife that resembles the 6202-1/2 in general shape and configuration (barehead regular jack), but would be smaller at 3" long closed. These are not demanded much by collectors....a pristine exmaple might be worth $60 to $70.

There was a larger knife, 3299-1/2, buts its much bigger at 4-1/8" closed and has bolsters at both ends.

:D See, I told you some of those knows-a-bunch (the guys that really do know as opposed to the knowitalls who only think they do.) fellas would come along. Forutnately for the rest of us, they are real good folks and freely share their knowledge.

ok. I ID'd the case knife. it is a yellow handled 3299 1/2 with 7 dots.

edited to add that it is in good condition. the blades still have a lot of spring tension, and open and close with a snap. the clip blade has sharpening marks but appears to be in 99%. the exposed portion of the clip blade when the knife is closed is rusty on the thumb pull side and there is a light patina on the remainder of the blade. the other side of the blade has a light patina. I assume that it is carbon steel as I don't see the SS markings on the ricasso. the pen blade is spotted with rust and is scratched in places. I would say 80 % of the blade opposite of the nail nick is spotted with rust in patches, and the nail nick side has about 60% spotted with rust. the blade is shiny in places and shows a patina in others. it appears to have been sharpened at one point but is 99%. it is quite dull as is the clip blade. both blades appear to have a half stop, and opening is somewhat gritty due to the rust on the tangs. the scales are scratched in places but are in good to very good condition, the pins and scales are flush with the bolsters, which are nickel silver I think. these display a light patina as well and some light scratches, and on the bottom, larger bolster the pins are becoming visible. the backsprings are spotted with rust and are beginning to develop a patina but are tight to the brass liners with no light able to shine through. the case shield is CASE with a circle around it in nickel silver as well I think. it is set securely in with a slight space between the lower left curve of the shield under the C and the yellow delrin scale. the top bolster on the shield side of the handle appears to have been dropped or come into contact with the ground or a rock, as it has some scratches. It was marked at $95 and they would knock $10 dollars off the price if I wanted it.

sorry for not posting a pic, my girlfriend has the camera. I have tried to describe this as accurately as possible and have erred to the side of caution when making the description.

any more info is always appreciated. thanks. :)

I think you can do a lot better for a used 3299 1/2! Watch them on ebay for a while, you'll see absolute mint ones go for that or less!
