An old Gerber....someone info or interested?

Hello Folks,

Recently I stumbled on a Gerber lockback, which does not appear in their catalog. It has brass scales and liners, with partial dark hardwood scales. It's design looks like the Buck Duke, buth with a bigger curve in the blade (less acute point), and not really rounded handle butt.
Any info is Welcome, as well as price-info or bids, as I only collect high-tech folders, and the rest of the knives I make myself.

It has never been used, it still has it's razorsharp factory edge, it just has been collecting dust in my closet. Since I cleaned it, I want to know what it's specs are, and if it's worth it to sell it.

If you want it, E-mail me for a bid. Next week I'll send you a scan of the knife so you can close-examine it's condition. To me, it's brand new.

Why do I do this? two reasons: I don't collect this type of knife, and in this weight-class, nothing is better then my Buck 110 with buckcote (which I hardly use but anyway....).

greetz, Bart.

Sounds like the Gerber Folding Sportsman Series. I think they had 4 sizes. Blade sizes ranges from 2 5/8" to 4". Brass frames w/hardwood inlay. Retail used to run $45 to $100 depending on size. If I remember right, they did produce one w/the hi speed tool steel. Real sweet piece. Hope that helps. Post a pic, so we could tell for sure.

I own the smallest in the line, it is called the Gerber "Classic" in it's later incarnations. It is one of my all-time favorites. I have two with the brass frame/cocobolo scales and two with all ivory micarta scales. The older brass versions had 440C steel.

Hello Folks,

Thanks for the replies.
Blade size is about 10 cm or 4 inch measured from axle to point. Actual cutting edge is about 3.3 inch or 8 cm.
Next weekend I'll make some scans and post them here. Stay tuned.

greetz & thanks, Bart.
