I found this old fellow on Ebay, and was intrigued by the kardas. Their curve and length was so graceful. The khukuri is 16.5" long and weighs about 12 oz. The spine is .280" (7.1mm) thick. The kardas are 7 3/4, and 8 1/2" long. There's an interesting repair behind the bolster. A band of iron or steel circles the handle, with a pin through the tang. Thought you folks might enjoy it.
Thanks for looking,
Steve

Looks like an M43 but appears considerably older than that.

Wish I would've seen it! Great score.

Thanks for sharing.

She has elegant lines, a story in the wood. Two Kardas, one for slicing,( the one with the wound from a hot coal or two ), and one for cutting it looks to my amature eye;)

Very neat, Steve. What plans? Leave and let live or clean and Tru-oil...

Thanks Mark,
The old ones I just clean rust and stabilize any cracks with superglue. Then oil, wax, leather treatment. That's it. The scabbard on this one has about turned to dust, but it's holding together well enough.

Steve,
Those kardas are gorgeous, and were made when Victoria was still on the throne if I'm not mistaken.
If you haven't tried Pecard Antique Leather Dressing, it's pretty incredible stuff, even for badly deteriorated leather. Just apply very gently by hand and let it sit for a few days - dry old leather absorbs it like a sponge.

Nice old kukri Steve, Definatly pre. ww1 & as Berk says quite likely Victorean.

Great Kardas, some very early kardas have blades in that style.
