I was a little surprised today. My Mom and Dad came by to visit, and when they got ready to leave, my Dad opened the trunk of the car to put some stuff in it...

He reaches down and says, " I better move my old knife first"..
It is a knife he has had so long he can't even remember exactly when he got it.
He keeps it in the trunk just to have. It has been used for gardening and other misc. chores. He even used it to cut sod when they landscaped their yard last month.

Its in great condition considering what its been used for. Not sure when it was made.
I have a couple Moras I've had since I was a kid , but I don't remember ever seeing one with this particular stamping.

It is stamped K.J Erickson / Mora / Sweden

Thought I would share and see if anyone knew roughly when it was made.
I guessed 1940's, but it is just a guess....

Hi,

Moras, you find them in the darnedest places. It looks like your Dad really takes excellent care of his Mora.

It is in good shape. The guard is a little loose and it needs a decent edge put on it. I offered to sharpen it for him, but he said it was fine for what he needs it for lol.
He still has some Case and Schrade knives, but they spend most of their time laying in the drawer.

Those are some of the most wondeful knives around. Built for no nonsense cutting service. Yes, I agree with dalee, your dad has taken great care of that knife!:thumbup:

Hello.
A late answer. Im just in from hollidays.
There could be some different ansvers on that question. I cant tell from the picture if its a wood or plastic handle. But from the coulour of the handle compared to the rest of the wear that knife has seen I start telling about plastic. In the 70-ties Eriksson started the production of this modell. A clasic scout with a modern material in the handle. The wery start of the plastic age. I belive the stayed in production for a lot of years but never realy sold much here in sweden anyway. The way its stamped dont talk against that period eather. The swedges near the tip talks the language of pre 80-ties. If the handle is wood and that is original coulour its probobly a rather rear knife.

Thanks for the info NB... The handle is wood, and I'm certain it is the original color.
I talked to my dad this weekend, and he was wondering if I found out anything about it.

Thanks much for the link Rich, I appreciate it.
I'll give it a look in the morning when I'm a little more awake
