First when I see recommendation threads as a rule I go immediately to the OP's join date and find 99 percent of the time they are very new members. That said I have found myself in a similar situation as all those folks looking for a recommendation on what to buy. After purchasing a new knife for my mystery GAW my knife purchasing funds are somewhat depleted and since I refuse to go in debt for a knife on a credit card I have come to a "which one" decision I just can't seem to make.

Here are the knives in question
a 15 Beer Scout/Caplifter or a 74 Mustang/Stallion.
I have decided the blade shape on the Stallion for me outweighs the Mustang so it's now between 3 knives. I know it comes down to pulling the trigger on only one but I absolutely can't make my mind up. I have had two dealer sites pulled up in my task bar for days looking back and forth at the knives trying to decide and just can't make my mind up. Can anybody give a push over the edge or do I just wait a few weeks and buy both.:confused:

Do you enjoy bottled delicious beverages? :D

Yes I being a little facetious, but I like that I can pull out a BS for two different jobs - cutting and opening. Twice the fun.

Hi Randy. Will one suit your needs better than the other? What's your pick for the handle material on each knife?

If it's any help, I just bought a spring green bone Stallion. I don't have too many single blades, but this #74 is just the right size, and with a beautiful clip.

Well Randy, I don't own any of the three. Personally if I had to pick it woukd be the 74 Stallion. Just a beautiful knife.

I'd go with the 74, but I might be a little biased. I don't drink, plus when I did I had many tricks up my sleeve for opening those pressed on caps.
I'm having to resist the urge to pick up a 74 myself. The DLT drop point blade looks so good on that profile, and the orange camel bone came out quite nice. But then again that clip is gorgeous! The wood handles look nice, but I have a feeling those yellow bone 74s are going to be stunners.

^This. I have a cap lifter and it comes in handy - especially at family get togethers. I have never owned the Mustang, but it is on my want list.

I don't drink, but I will say that 5 or 6 of my knives have the combination screwdriver/cap lifter. Comes in handy for opening the occasional 12 ounce bottle of Mtn Dew, not to mention turning a screw and scraping.
(I normally just get a couple 2 liters of dew a day)

My problem has been solved by the unprecedented generosity of Shawn. I am still a little stunned pictures and more info in a few days.

Sad and Fishhunter I don't drink either.

I'm going to call it a night and try to sleep while letting this sink in.

Congratulations Randy! I guess that's one way to do it! I'm afraid I would be no help at all, after seeing Old Engineers(Harry) picture with the chestnut, that could've been my only suggestion. Let's see those pics;) once you can post them.
Thanks, Neal

I lIke having the caplifter for turning screws, prying, scraping, and maybe actually lifting a cap once in a blue moon.

Double the blades/tools, double the reasons to pull it out of your pocket.

Well I now own both. The Beer Scout is a gift from Wurrwulf and the Stallion I bought.
