An old Spyderco found

I found an all SS SE Copilot I believe at a local store. He also had a black blade digi camo Para 1. I always thought the Copilot was a good looker, but never really pursed it. I think he was asking $60 for it, but I am sure I could get it for less as he didn't know anything about it and has had it for a long time (Para 1 he wanted $100, and it was used and showed it). It did not have a blade steel stamped on it, and I am wondering which version this most likely is, and wanting to see if there are any known fakes of this knife out there. No box that he knew of, but it was in good condition and a lot more comfortable in hand than my Meerkat and Dragonfly which see little carry time because I don't fancy the ergos much. I don't care for full SE much, but if this is a good deal I may jump on it anyway, or try to work a deal for both.

It sounds like it should be Gin-1/G2 steel if it is unstamped. Do you remember if it had brass liners?

Don't think there are any fakes of it.

And I have a PE CoPilot, great little knife, although I don't find the pocket clip useful on such a short knife so I carry mine lose in pocket. And I agree with you, the ergos are a lot better than the MeerKat or Dragonfly. If you like it then get it. For $60 it's a lot better than you'll see on the secondary market nowadays.

As with most of the older Spydercos, there's not a tremendous amount of collector interest in the SE version. That said, if you like it, $60 would probably be a fair price for it and if you can get it for less, all the better.

As far as I know the Para should have the blade steel stamp on it. Should be S30V. The only steel change I can remember on a Para 1, was the Foliage Green CPMD2 Sprint.

I do believe it did. I recall seeing a discoloration on and thinking it was odd. It never crossed my mind that it had brass liners.

The Para had S30V stamped, the Copilot did not.
