This is one I bought on Ebay a couple of years ago. It's a little one, 14 1/4" overall, with a 3 1/2" handle. On a whim, I decided to etch the blade. Here's what was underneath. Good differential hardening, and some lamination. Kinda purty.

Very nice blade shape, and that carving on the handle is very cool. Any idea of the age?

"Kinda pretty"? Yes, and Star Trek's 7 of 9 is "kinda shapely"! Beautiful knife. Wish I knew how to fix up my knives like that, as well as photgraph them. You guys can make a 10" knife look like a 30" sirupate!

Thanks for sharing.

I posted it a couple of years ago right after I picked it up. Here is John Powell's comment:

"The kukri with the small fruitwood grip is a very nice example from around 1850 and probably made in Nuwakot province. This style is very indicative of that area and date."

It's one of my favorite little khukuris.

Norm, 7 of 9! Jerri Ryan? Wow. Be still my heart. :o

Good pics Steve. Do you know what the weight is? Also, how thick is the spine at the bolster then at the center of the blade?

Thanks Sweet. The spine at the bolster is .330" (5/16" +). At the bend it's .300. Halfway between the bend and the tip, it is .240", or just less than 1/4". Not thin for it's size.

The photo "For the non Star Trek folks..." didn't show her sensible, practical for warship duty, stiletto heels.
I guess they helped her to dig into the titanium-trinium floor & keep her balance when the ship would rock under heavy attack, & all the consoles built out of c-4 were exploding.
I love sci-fi, but they sure make it hard to believe sometimes.
Hmmmmm........ but I did keep watching the show (& the commercials) .....Hmmmmm.

Jeri Ryan is the winner of "audible responses to the arrival of a character in a scene on a TV series" award in my house.

(Generally, it was sort of a whimper that trailed off.)
