Mr. Fisk, MS does not make many of these anymore. It can't get much plainer or simpler than this. 9.75" of 1084, 14.5" overall, stainless guard and pins, with an exhibition grade black micarta handle (just kidding). I particularly like the ARKANSAW stamp. Nice solid knife without a lot of bells and whistles.

looks great! i love it, especially that micarta handle! without it this knife would be "just" another nice bowie. (however, the black lacquer on the guard should have been applied more carefully...)

Peter, Great looking knife. Your right about Jerry not using alot of micarta. Nice to see the Arkansaw stamp. Jim Treacy

Hans,That isn't black laquer-its "brass black...as soon as you wipe the knife down, it removes some of it. Makers use it for accenting their work and frankly I don't really care for it, but it is traditional on ABS style knives.
Its easy to replace the black with a material sold by Birchwood Casey in the US, but most collectors just overlook it.

Very nice vintage Fisk. First I believe I’ve seen with a micarta handle.
Great looking Rowe sheath. Believe you have another one similar to that Peter.

WOW!
Nothing fancy.
Nice!
Stunning package,I've never seen a micarta Fisk either and am confused about the ARKANSAW stamp.
Great pick up.

leatherbird,

I did ask Fisk what the story was on the ARKANSAW stamp and what year or years he used it. Here is his response:

"Not really on the time frame, just last 5 years or so, I also had no rhyme or reason for putting it on a knife. Just stamped one on occasions. I still have the stamp. Not a lot of them stamped with it. I never stamped over 5 a year at best. I stamped some nice pieces and some field grades as well. One of them is running around Iraq now with that marking on it." Jerry's knives are always a welcome view .... and the more I get to know the man the more I respect him, and appreciate his knives.

:foot: oops, sorry, i thought the knife was new. i had the problem you describe twice, happened to a crowell and a fitch hunter. the first time i wiped them down, the black was partially gone. in one case i removed the rest and left the steel blank, for the other one i used a, ehemm, black felt-tip pen to resolve the problem :o
