An open letter from a hunter

I really enjoyed reading that. Every time I read an article from Lynn, I find myself agreeing with him wholeheartedly.

Hunting is a conversation that is always sure to start a disagreement.

I am not an avid hunter. I have hunted in my youth. I have harvested one deer. I have also helped butcher an elk, and recently I was able to help butcher a cow. We selected it, shot it, and skinned it. Then processed it in a garage a week later.

I know where my food comes from. I appreciate it more because I know how much work it takes to make it into "food".

The opportunity to hunt, and take big game is fundamental. I hope to be able to teach my own boys to hunt responsibly, and safely. Teach them where meat comes from, and an appreciation for what they eat.
