While looking at Ragnar's site I was inspired by what he did with an Opinel so I fished the #8 out of my glove compartment and started filing away (by hand). That wood is harder than I thought, being so light. Out came the Dremel. A short time later I had something that fit my hand a bit better and looks pretty stylish, if I do say myself. Thank you Ragnar for the inspiration. For the price of Opinels, everyone should give it a go.

Be carefull! You may end like - making handles to blades from Ragnar. He inspired me too last year. The Helle blades are amaizing and really cheap. So be carefull. It is really hard to stop once you started.
Thanks, Vassili.

Opinels are good to customize. I have a #8 with lanyard hole, streamlined handle (filed down the fishtail) an jigged with a dremel. Also a #7 with a carved face.

I keep meaning to get a DC but play money tends to go into the cars. The downside of old cars is they break. The upside is a $50 is an afternoon of getting greasy, not $100/hour for labor. What can you do?

Fix the whole thing at one time... then buy wax?

Note: this normally leads to a new toy
Note 2.0: completing the next toy doesnt solve problem...
