I received this from Johnny (Caleb) and it is the first giveaway I have won anywhere.

This knife is very nice, tons of character, perfect lockup etc, what else could you want :)

The best part is Caleb was kind enough to pass one of his own along to me. I wonder what stories go along with this knife.

I just wanted to say thanks. I won't forget it.

Kevin

Kevin - that´s a nice knife. The 500-series of Buck are great knives. I got one by Duane (sitflyer). Congratz on that one. A great knife from Caleb :)

I´m sure, you´ll like this.

May I ask which modell this is?

That's a nice gift, Kevin.

Those are pretty handy knives. I used to have one like that; a 503 'Prince' if I recall. Not sure if it's the same size as yours, but it had the same handle material. I traded it to my boss at work. He also had one, and used it very hard, a little bit beyond what those thin, great-slicing blades were made for. Even used it to trim a loose piece of fiberglass fender from a boat trailer he had, which dulled it quick. He kept asking me to re-sharpen it for him, which I was happy to do. I think I traded mine to him for a gas-powered string trimmer (weed-wacker, basically), as I'd just bought a piece of property that was pretty deep in 'foliage'. Didn't have quite as much 'fun' using that, as I'd had with my li'l Buck. Still think he got the better end of the deal. :)

Great story David, and thanks again guys. Johnny deserves a big congrats from me for being so generous :)

I wish this knife could have been better than what I sent you Kevin, you definitely deserve a better knife.
Not that it's a horrible knife, it's just not on par with the person who got it.

I bought this knife to replace a Buck 55 that I gave to my cousin, it served my purposes much better than the 55 did. This knife road with me for a couple of months straight and unfortunately, I dropped it one day while on a walk. There are a couple of little dings in the bolster that I'm sure Kevin, you can see. I forgot about this when I selected the knife for the giveaway and I didn't remember it until I actually had it back in my hand.

This knife went on a few fishing trips with me and it served as a small game knife on a couple of hunts. It's cleaned squirrel and one rabbit if I remember correctly.

I split an apple with my Grandfather one fall evening and that knife did the slicing.

There is something about a Buck knife that I love and they are definitely family knives.

Johnny,

Your words are flattering but I love this knife. There could not have been a better gift. I will treasure it for what it is, and mostly remember the memories made before you passed it to me.

It is now a part of my very small collection of sentimental knives.

Thanks again,

Kevin
