I'm sorry to kind of just jump in here, but I didn't want to start a new thread and thought you guys of the traditional subforum would be able to answer this question. If there's a better place for this question feel free to let me know or move it. I bought a couple SAKs recently, one as a gift to a friend. Specifically, I got a Huntsman II for myself (thought it may turn into a Christmas present) and a Waiter for the friend. In general, they both have lighter pulls/snaps than my Alox Farmer. The things I wasn't sure about, however, were the fact that they have very recessed (look to be purposeful) back springs along with some gaps on the Waiter, the blades seem to have been sharpened straight (rather than with the belly) close to the tip, and the caplifter/can-opener combination tool on the waiter is not sharpened (I thought they came with an edge so they could open cans). Are these normal for these models? These models are all new to me, the only SAKs I've had are the Classic and the Alox Farmer.

Anyway, here're some pictures:

I just wanted to make sure my knives were within normal specs, but either way I think those two knives are well worth the price. Can't get much more utility out of $25 than with the Huntsman, or out of $16 than with the Waiter.

They look perfectly normal to me. The recessed springs on the back allow for the spine tools, like the corkscrew, phillips, awl etc. The combo tool on the waiter also looks normal. It is not sharpened like the traditional SAK can opener, but works just as well regardless. If you have questions about the blade grind, post up some pics and you'll get some quick responses. In the end, if all the tools have that classic Victorinox snap and don't have play, I'd say they are good to go! Feel free to contact me with any other questions. And, congrats on your SAKs. I'm carrying a Tourist, Electrician, and a classic on my keys today  You also might want to check out the multitool subforum, folks there know more than I will ever know!

I've not had numerous SAKs on which ground to speak, but I can note that the pull on my recent Alox model is much harder than that of my previous cellidor models, if such helps to answer that inquiry of yours.

Thanks for both of your replies!

That makes sense, I actually didn't think about that since the back tools are on the other end on the Huntsman. I don't think the person I'm giving the Waiter to will notice the gap, I just was under the impression that Victorinoxs very rarely had gaps. So the combo tool will be able to open cans without being sharpened?

Yeah, they're a bit lighter. I was mainly a bit concerned that the can opener on the Huntsman was a bit lazy, not much snap. I'm hoping it's just because of a tight fit that will loosen a bit.
