An update on my recovery: Prayers/Smoke needed!

Hey guys,

I just had a battery of X-Rays and a review at the hospital and the prognosis wasn't good at all:

A bone-spur has formed from the healing left wrist which could shred my hand tendons, paralysing my hand.

A bone chip in my right ankle which would rattle around and destroy the joint if I put full weight with my right foot.

And what's worse is the shattered right femur has a ~3-4" section of bone that isn't really coming together very well.

Whether this is due to bad physio in rehab or shoddy surgery to start with remains to be seen, but any and all prayers would be very much appreciated. I'm kinda down about it. Not really depressed, but not really that happy 'bout it...

Much Thanks to you all!

you'll be fine in no time, frankenstein.
drinkin wine, singin rhymes,
buying khuks and choppin limes.

Dont listen to them jive-ass doctors.
You gonna be cherry in a flash!

Kinda sucks, man:( get well soon. I know you're wreck was pretty bad, but having that much stuff go wrong is kinda off-putting. Keep your legal options open. You'll be fine 'fore ya know it:)

Hibuke, best wishes in your healing process... :( Were intramedullary nails used in your initial surgery to fix the femur? Did you have time to choose the surgeon, or was one assigned to your case by the hospital where you were brought after your accident?

Bet they get the chips out. Complications. Big injuries often have complications.

I'm just glad your brain is in one peice-

munk

I reckon the docs have a few tricks for bone spurs and such. As long as your brain is working properly, you have one up on me. :)

Life at times just doesn't seem fair. Try the best you can to deal. we are all pulling for you. ;)

:( :( :( :( Smoke going up. Please do keep your legal options open. It seems a lot of so-called Drs didn't pay much attention in class. They need to be harvested from the herd.

Hibuke, just saw this today. Hang in there and I'm sure things will get better. Smoke and prayers on the way from California.

Please keep in touch and let us know how your rehab is going.

Best wishes,

Norm

Overall, my rehab is alright.

There's not alot the physios can do until the abovementioned complications are bashed out...

It's really annoying, 'cos the doctors are taking their own sweet time with it and I'm quite an urgent case.....

They told me they'd set an appointment for me next week, but no, they lied and now my appointment is on the 29th! I also have an MRI for my ankle which should show what else is wrong and what best to do.......

That's about it.......... :grumpy::mad::grumpy:

Ummm... Not sure what the proper name for those thangs are, other than "nails".

And a doc was assigned to me at The Royal Melbourne Hospital (RMH). I was in (obviously) pretty bad shape to start with, and I don't have the luxury of knowing an orthopaedic trauma surgeon, so the current Orthopaedic Trauma Team in the RMH were assigned to me...

So in other words, no, I didn't get to choose my surgeon...

Many times, Hibuke, more than one surgical intervention is needed, especially if the damage is intensive, and the bones are fractured in multiple places. Once you have the MRI in hand, do get several opinions for the next steps regarding your complete recovery. Give your absolute best in P.T., and best wishes! :)
