while huntin on the bay awile back i came across a: "Schrade XT1B" and it looked like this:

Wow, cool, i thought, and neat too, 'cause it's a Schrade. auction closing and no one else had offered to adopt this guy for the opening bid of $29.99, so i did.
now this IS a neat knife. a Bolo pattern. heavy enough that you know you have something in you hand(not like those flimsy H-15s), but not tiresome heavy, comfortable handle and balance. and the sheath is totally Ballistic !

some while later, while still spending valuable time and resources, suckedf in by the bay tides, i came across this: "Schrade XT28" but the pic. did not show accurate color and the knife was still sheathed. so it looked like this but with off colors:

Wow, i thought, neat and cool too. that's XT2B, no such deal as XT28.
Bolo's little brother ! so again i ponied up, this time $10.50.
and when Bolo's brother arrived he looked like this:

ALIEN ! !
that said, here's the interesting part: the China XT2B is just as nice a knife.
infact both look, feel and seem identical. it's hard to believe they were manufactured in 2 different places.
and then the sheaths: IDENTICAL. there's no doubt both were made at the same place.

get my drift ? i think "something's up" here. roland

What if there were many parts knife blanks, handles etc that were left over from the factory closing, then shipped to china for assembly, later they made more blades and stamped them with just the Schrade name. Blah Blah Blah, you never know.

Also as there are not many parts to this design, it would make it easier to copy than say an Old Timer folder.

I would not bet against both the original Schrade and the Taylor version handles being molded in the same offshore factory on the same molding machines using the same spec materials. Same for the Safe-T-Grip series. Just for giggles, look at the United Cutlery versions of the X-Timer knives.
