An XM18 is as hard to find as a Yeti?

Is it just me and my lack of knowledge of where to find a dealer for an XM18, or are these things STILL very difficult to get?

Does anyone know of an on-line source for one that has less than a year wait?

Let me guess: 'No'. :)

I don't think there's many dealers that will put you on a waitlist anymore. They are harder to find now, it seems Hinderer doesn't put out that many Gen 3s. You can normally find one of his custom pieces but expect to pay $800+.

I know a dealer that got some XM-18 Gen 3s last week and sold them all in under 30 mins. Unfortunately I wasn't at a computer at the time, I think they sold for $475 each.

I actually found a Yeti last week while bow hunting in the Himalayas. And apparently she hadn't wiped her ass in about four and a half years. :barf:

Good luck on that XM-18.

Arizona custom knives gets them once in a while, but they're gone before they can cool off.I have them email me whenever Hinderer's(and a few others) products become available.I'm always too late.:grumpy:

I wonder if they would call me on my cell? That'd be a lot better & I'd stand more of a chance.

they are difficult to get at msrp. Not so bad if you dont mind paying a markup.

You have to constantly look on the sales areas of the knife forums. That's how I got mine. But you will probably pay atleast 520 for one. Good luck.

My point exactly: MSRP is not easy to find. Paying a premium is OK, but I don't think I want to do that if I can avoid it. :)

No, they aren't THAT hard to find, if you know where to look. Rick has a list of dealers on his site. THAT is a good place to start.

Arizona Customs had several up for sale recently.

"MSRP" isn't going to happen, because dealers command premiums for new knives. They aren't going to take orders for list price when the knives sell out for $100 higher in a few hours, without even having been pre-ordered.

I was lucky enough to be on Arizona Custom Knives when they posted last week. I will soon have the orange flipper in my hands. All three were gone in about 2 minutes. By the time I got the email they were gone so it is just random to luck onto one.

I know a dealer with about 12 XM-18's in stock but I'm going to order one next week.
When i ordered i will let you know what the webpage of the dealer is. :)

I bought a Gen 3 from Plaza Cutlery at MSRP. I'm not sure if they still do this, but it might be worth it to get o their email list.

Arizona Customs had 3 I believe. I think the last time before that was 2-3 months back.

To get notifications on your phone, figure out what your phone's email address is and use that. An easy way to find that is send a text message (SMS) to your own email address and look at the return address.

A little bird told me that Arizona Customs might have one in stock. It could be a tumble finished blue flipper.

Sale pending now. @$660.

That was quick. Is the lucky person on BF?

IMO I think that the XM-18 is an exceptionally crafted knife the puts durability above everything else. I can't say I find the thick tip or the under developed forward choil pleasing, but it's right up there with a Strider AR / SMF as the most durable folding knife.

i checked the list of dealers on the hinderer list. thats where i started. lol.

no luck. all have some kind of sold or provisional sale tag on them form what i have seen.

... and i will check back :)

Some of these dealers have email lists that you can join. They email everyone and whoever buys first is the winner. I really liked dealing with Plaza Cutlery, who not only charged me MSRP ($385 + shipping), but also emailed me and gave me a few days to respond before offering it to others.

Arizona Customs had another one today. It was a regular gen III flipper and it went for 660.00 It wasnt on there more than a few minutes.
