I've seen some cheap knock-off 'anchor' knives with spear points. But did Otter-Messer ever make one in spear point?

Someone gave me a used Otter-Messer that I keep in my desk drawer for various utility tasks. I've fallen in love with the size, handles, and snap, but dang-it I still hate the straight blade. :(

I don´t know exactely, but I think these knives weren´t made with a spear point blade.

The reason: The nautical original use of this type of knives was for maritime use, where usually just sheepfoot blades (blades without a "real" tip) were used. I don´t think that Otter made an Ankermesser with a spear point. But for further information, you could ask Otter to get an answer for you.

Maybe I can get more information tomorrow - I need to go to work and it´s almost half past eleven in the evening today... ;)

I considered the possibility of modding the sheepfoot into spear point. But the point would not be concealed by the handles when closed. So you'd have to file down the kick. But then the blade edge would hit the backspring...

Funny thing is, I was just searching for an Otter Anchor knife a few minutes ago. I saw a three pack with the regular sheepsfoot, spear point, and some other one that I don't remember. Havn't seen it anywhere else though.
Happy hunting :D

Yeah, I've seen those. Marked with the "Cannon" brand name and made in China.

I´ve just googled a little the term "Ankermesser" and I just could find the ones in the traditional sheepfoot blade.

As far as I know, now only Otter and Löwen Messer is making the anchor knife nowadays. Formaly there were more cutleries that made this knife, like Herder Abr. & Sohn - a knife that Charlie (waynorth) showed off recently.

I think they made (and make em) one way. Neat videos on YouTube, BTW, of the factory.

I've never seen an anchor knife with the spear point, by Otter or anyone else for that matter. Otter does make a nice wood handled spearpoint edc though, I own this one from them and love it.

That one does look nice. A few years ago, I had a similar Otter - it was a large-ish spearpoint, but the handles were white bone and the bolster had two grooves filed into it. Definitely a hardy variety; couldn't kill it. Gave it to a friend at work, who was a deckhand on one of our tug boats, and he still uses it daily.
It was this one (pic from a google search):

That's perfect! I don't actually care about having the anchor inlay.

A company caled Baladeo have this one. They claim it is traditional to Brittany!
