Hi guys. Thought I’d share this one I made. Hope you like it.

Ancient Khopesh Sword of Pharaoh – Fully Functional

History of the Khopesh:

While originally these ancient swords were used against the Egyptians, they were so impressed by them that they adopted them as their own and the Khopesh eventually became the very symbol of Egyptian authority, with two such swords even found in the tomb of the legendary Pharaoh/Mummy Tutankhamun (c 1350 BC).

Total Length = 26 ”
Blade Length = 20 “
Blade Width = 1 3/4 “
Blade Thickness = 3/16 “
Handle Length = 6 “
Handle Width = 1 1/8 “
Handle: Burnt Osage. Scales attached with hidden pins and gorilla glued.
Weight = 2.4 lbs

YES!!!! You don't know how long I've been waiting for someone to do a khopesh! And by God you didn't disappoint, Chris! That blade shape looks wicked. You have to put up pictures of a test.

Is that a chisel grind I see in pic #3?
 
Thanks all. I'm actually finishing up my 2010 Sword/Knife porfolio video. I'll send you the link when it's finished (shooting for this weekend). It has a demonstration of this sword. I killed a small old heavy bag with it, then afterwards sliced the old milk jug that I usually do. :)

Oh, and it is a chisel grind. For better smashing and cutting :eek:!
 
Outstanding. I'll be looking forward to it! BTW, was this forged or stock removal?
 
Dang, that blade looks FAST!!! I absolutely love how quickly it decapitated those water jugs ;) Beautiful work Chris.
 
Thanks friend. It's a fun sword. Like I said in my other Khopesh video, it's one of my favorite sword styles.

Stunning. Great work. I don't think I've even seen a custom khopesh before.
