Ancient projectile weapon

I tried that a while ago. Wasn't nearly as popular with the neighbors as it was with me.

ive already made a sling!
that is a cool website.
i am having to shoot beanbags in my apartment but i want to try shooting those lead slugs someday...

I'll stick to my trusty longbow, lest I get jacked up on adrenalin and brain myself trying to fling a small bolder, as in "hey bubba, whachiss". :o

I had the opportunity to see some Hawaiian men use their traditional sling weapons when I visited Oahu---VERY impressive weapons. The Hawaiians used them to great effect on their enemies.

Let me encourage you all to learn about this and other skills of our ancestors.
Except for farming, pottery and prostitution, there's not too many ancient professions and skills still being practiced.
To me, this is an amazing thing. This is one of the reasons I treasure the martial arts.
To me, this is like going to the Smithsonian and being allowed to put on George Washingtons's clothes and go cross the potomac.
It's time travel in a very intimate, personal way.

I would also recommend you all have a look at tracking and flint knapping. these skills all take time and practice, but they are very rewarding and they do wonders for your confidence.

You gotta admit though that this packs smaller than the Atlatl or the Long Bow. It'd be so easy to fit a sling into a survival kit.

I agree with you Danny.

I am lucky enough to have found a teacher who was taught many of the ancient skills by an MicMac elder who was also taught in the old ways by an elder and so on. I hope to learn as much of what he knows as I can.
