Just got it in the mail yesterday after wanting either a 3 or a 4 for about 6 months, which is when I discovered their existence. It is smaller than I expected, which makes me like it even more since it is easier to carry and use. I'm glad the handle isn't any shorter though. This little guy is perfect for my backpacking wants and I'm willing to bet I'll have it for the rest of my life. Thanks for the guidance RAT dudes. Now if I could just get that RP#...:thumbup::D

Great choice ... the RP# will come , same as the eventual purchase of more RAT's

RAT Pack# 64

Congrats on the purchase of a great knife! The RC 4 was my first too, been hooked ever since...

Thanks,

I can see why now that I finally was able to finally get my hand on one. It is svelte, really a tidy package of capability. I'm really glad it isn't as big as I was expecting. Thanks for the welcomes :thumbup:

Yeah, yeah, bla bla bla. Don't thank us, go out and use the poor thing!! :foot:

:D

Haha, I will get arrested if I go out and use it around here man! I'm pretty sure that California campuses don't take too kindly to people waving around big knives. Actually it is probably legal if I wear it on the outside, so maybe it would be OK... it would cause some student's eyes to go wide though. Actually its funny, I gave a lecture the other day, covering for my advisor, and one of the students afterwards asked me if that was a Caly3 in my pocket. Good eyes! Probably wouldn't work so well with a fixed blade.

I hear you though, I'll be out in the hills with it soon enough.

Way to go  Who knows, if you take and post pictures, maybe you'll WIN another RAT in one of the contests. After getting an RP# off course...

Thanks,

Last time I hit the hills was in the Mt. Williamson area in the Sierra Nevada's and I carried my DSLR with me the whole time, from the valley floor to my high point almost at the top of the mountain. I didn't quite make the top, but I took a lot of pics. It is that trip that made me want to get a RAT! Next trip I will definitely combine my meager powers and if nothing else I will definitely get some good shots of the blade getting scraped up and depended on.

Its not the jungle, but I bet the RC-4 will fit right in...

Welcome to the family. I love backpacking and the RC4 is a great fit on the trail. Mine has become my EDC fixed blade as well. The sheath system makes it really easy to carry in a variety of positions. Great little knife.

The RC-4 was my first RAT as well. I read about RAT knives for about 3 weeks before I bought one, so you are stronger than me! I love mine. It's a good looking knife, designed to be USED and the sheath is great. Couldn't think of one thing to change about it honestly.

It certainly won't :)

I believe my next will be an Izula, even though I can't carry it around with me here in California. Btw, where do you guys get your paracord from?

Congrats on the RC-4! I just got mine a couple of days ago and I love mine also. 3 down, 3 to go!
