I have been building pine cars for the last 10 years. I had this design in mind for several months but of course I put it off, helped the kids with theirs, ran out of time, etc. So in two days I came up with this.

I cut the block at work on Wednesday and did some rough sanding on a belt sander. Wednesday night I sanded and installed 7 - 3/8" dia weights in the body with bondo, sanded the bondo and gave it a primer coat. Thursday after two BB games I sanded a bit then started on the paint. Friday am did some more paint and installed the trany. Friday was track set up day and after two hours of set up I ran it. Beat my boy :p but not my girl.
Took first place in craft  but only 7th in speed  . There were only 12 cars for the adult race.

The pictures don't show up for me and wheres the part about using a Buck knife? DM

the pictures are showing up for me. Are they not for others?
As far as using a Buck knife...well, I used one as a model. Does that count?

Oh man. They are pics of my pine car cut to be a 112.
I have them at dropbox and they show up for me so I thought everyone can see them.

I posted a pic of my 102 in the SPS, can anyone see that?

Your photos do not show up on the SPS either.

Most likely user error! :)

I dropped a box once, not photos, but a lot of broken glass.

All I get is little blue boxes with question marks in them.

Does anyone else successfully use Dropbox for photo hosting?

Apparently not, I searched about that topic and the answer is, not really. I tried some suggestions but gave up and did a photo bucket act.
Fixed the SPS pics too. Also figured out you don't have to use the forums insert image icon to get the pic to show as well.

Thanks for all the support and patience.

OK Max,

A few of the photo's are working now!

Cool little 112 racer:thumbup:

I can see them! The pictures do help, your pine car is a Buck 112. It all makes perfect sense now. :)

I can see the picture - cool idea for a pinewood derby car! Did you use a real Buck 112 to make the Buck 112 car? OH

Yes, OH. I used a finger groove for a model. It turned out to be only .25" shorter than the real knife.

You can see it in the background. This is a shot right after I added weights. I still had to add more to the bottom to get to 5.00 ozs. Wish I would have started earlier and did a better paint job. In fact, I wanted to stain the bolster area but I shot it with primer and had to get going.
