And now, the other shoe drops... BladeForums.com Auctions Are Back!

That's right, we've brought back the auctions!

Check it out at http://www.bladeforums.com/osauction.shtml

I think you guys will find this to be a welcome addition to the site....

I'm still working on finishing the Terms & Conditions, Disclaimers, and some of the other pages, but in the mean time you can go ahead and get going. Like the classifieds section, the fee's are extremely reasonable, and unlike Ebay, automatic knives are welcome!

Until the policies are 100% up and ready, please keep the following in mind - By using the auction to buy or sell, you enter a legally binding contract with both us and the other party. All Federal, State, and local laws apply to all auctions at all times. BladeForums.com is only a service and we make no guarantee's about the validity or quality of the item(s) being offered; we will not take any responsiblity for consequences resulting from using our services... so use at your own risk.

BTW, billing will be handled monthly...

I'm sure this will meet some level of success, but this and the other changes are kind of sucking the life out of the "do your fellow forumite a favor by selling a great knife at a great price" mentality. I've sold knives on this site for much less than I could have fetched elsewhere (pointless to say where, we all know) because of the comraderie and community feeling here. This stuff is eliminating that to a great degree.

Not bashing, I just remember people getting flamed in the "For Sale" forum for listing knives as "Will accept the best offer by....". That sense of fair play, as self policed by the members here, was a great show of the community here.

I enjoy this site.

Take care,

Brandon

I've rethought part of my opinion. The classifieds are a good money making idea, although I'm sure it's not going to put you in the black. Hopefully it might offset some of the coffee you guys must go through

.

The auction I don't personally like, but it will bring some good deals to members when items become commonplace and aren't bid upon as heartily. I guess I wasn't giving credit to the good people here who will still offer their lightly used (and new) knives through the classified at a nice low price just because they like the people they meet here.

My mistake for underestimating the kindness still left in human nature.

Excellent news.

I just hope that this time you'll give your auction site some time. These things take time to build steam. If you build the proverbial better mousetrap, the world will beat a path to your door... but not necessarily instantly.

Yep we understand. The last auction software we had was just terrible. So this time we went all out and got the best there is. If you watch CNN you have seen this companies commercials. Also I don't have a choice but to give this one time as I bought the full blown license ($20K+) Ouchhh

I will be making a post shortly to give you guys a better understanding as to why we are doing these things.

Also I have heard the "if it aint broke don't fix it" story a few times. Well folks, it was broke and going broke in all senses of the word so this is the path to keeping this site alive. It also will hopefully generate the revenue not only to keep this site alive but it will help us bring some really cool features here that you will all enjoy.

What features? Well make sure you look for my "State of the Forums" address sometime over the next couple days.
