And Sal created the hole, and it was good. New convert.

I just received my first Spydercos, and it was a windfall. I had recently acquired a few higher end knives that I would never use, and decided to trade. In return I have received a new Native with CPM 440V, Viele VG-10, Starmate CPM 440V, and a used G-10 Harpy ATS-55.

I gotta say, I LOVE the hole! So much easier on the thumb and pockets than Studs. FRN, G-10, and Micarta; great quality on all of them. The Viele is sooo smooth and classy! The Starmate: What a beast! Locks like a vault! I just wish I could sharpen the Harpy, though. Still, nice and compact. I think the Native could become an EDC, with its great blade shape, and cool handle design, and wicked-sharp serrations.

I'm sold on Spydercos! Spyderco Rules!

The hole is the best. Particularly the round hole.

Preferrably 14 mm hole (where practical)

Daniel,

Try the Spyderco Sharpmaker 204 sharpening system, very inexpensive and very good. It works great for those serrations, so well that Lynn Thompson of Cold Steel recommends it for use on his knives!

Not to take anything away from Sal, the man is a genius, but there was a period of trial & error.

Ye gods, PhilL! What was that, the round hole after someone force-fit a square peg?

Actually, Daniel, I first ran into the "Hole" in the late 1980s and thought that it was downright weird until I tried it out. I bought my first Spydie, a C07SS Police, then and there and have been in love with the make ever since, with very few exceptions. I may look funny, but it is THE most intuitive opening device that I have ever encountered.

Hi Daniel. Welcome to the world of Spyderco and thanx for the kind words.

Phil, there was actually a "knock off" with a square hole.

Daniel...
You got some of the great ones there. Those four could actually serve one well though most of life's edgy needs.

(of course they won't :) )
