Just something we made up and thought I'd share with you guys. Kind of fun deal and very practical too. Use to make these up for sale 15-20 years ago and hadn't made any since. We had a set here in the house and lots of folks were commenting on them lately and then.....new kitchen table. Solid mesquite (my comment on cutting it up for knife handles did not go over well), wrought iron chairs covered in pig skin, ok cool table and chairs, needed some new coasters.

With one of my bottle openers. All ready for game day.

Size 1 horseshoes from Tractor supply. Gave em a couple good coats of clearcoat to arrest the oxides and give them some mositure protection. 8-9oz Herman Oak cut from the good parts of a belly piece. Tooled, dyed saddletan and then couple coats of Bag Kote. Then put em together. Nichole built these I just provided the order of proceedures and supervision, crack another one there.

Very slick sir, how are they fastened together?

Thanks Gary. Back when I made a lot of them I would use Gorilla Glue. But you were always fighting its foaming. However that set I've got that are 10-15 yrs old have held up very well. On this set, updated some and used Gorilla brand Super Glue in the gel formation. The gel prevents it from going where you don't want it and they are stuck together. I put some books on top while drying and thats about it.

Those Gorillas make some powerful stuff, we use their tape all the time and their glue as well !
Thanks,
G2

Dave ,
Does the moisture - condensation from the bottle effect the leather much over time ?
Also I've got to see some pics of the chairs , pig skin covered wrought iron sounds mighty cool .

Yeah Gary those Gorillas do make good stuff.

Ken the leather finish seems to provide enough protection. We don't baby em at all, just use them. We've never had a problem. Here's the chairs and tables. Just off the kitchen. I guess you'd call it a breakfast nook or something. The table is solid mesquite and is HEAVY, all I can do to pick up one end. Took 4 of us to unload it from the truck. Can't really see it in this pic but the two long edges are "live" in that they havn't been squared, still have the shape of the log the plank was cut from. Lots of rusticity as my friend says. Some dips and wowies too. Pretty cool. The grain pattern of the wood is mesmerizing.

And just one of the chairs.

The pigskin is hand sewn around the worught iron frame.

Wow, that is amazing.

You sir are a master craftsman.

Thanks Dave but I didn't make the table or chairs, we bought them. Hope I didn't mislead. But I do know mastercrafstmanship when I see it.

To further our game day theme. Here is a Seahawks colored purse Nichole was asked to make:

That's a really nice work bench Dave .
Its a sign of a professional that your workplace is so tidy and uncluttered .:)

My Kitchen table is my leatherwork bench ( much to my wife's dismay ) but I suspect if our table and chairs looked as good as that there is no way I would be allowed through the door with my little box of tools and scraps of leather .

That timber is first class

That is a beautiful table!! Cool looking coaster also.
I've never been into the coaster thing myself. You want to open a beer bottle on my living room table go for it! Slam your bottle or can down on it I don't care. Carve your name into it? fine.

Just my two cents.

That must be that other one...the poetry Professor!

Well, I sure like your D2 blades, particularly with sterling silver bolster and Merino sheep-horn grip. My wife says they are the nicest that she's ever seen, and she's seen a lot of mine.
