In continuing to improve and expand the skill sets I made my first purse. I drew up my own 1 piece pattern thinking I would like it better than the 2 or 3 piece versions I had seen in some tutorials.

Of course I used the opportunity to practice carving and tooling.

I used 6oz leather and it was a chore to get this thing flipped right side out after stitching it up. This stretched and distorted the sides and created the sag.:grumpy: I'm not happy with the snaps. I would have much preferred magnetic buckles or even studs, but I haven't either. Maybe next time or if the new owners wants me to I will.

Thanks for looking,
Chris

Nice work!
Did you put in a fabric liner in?
Probably should have gotten the edges wet for the turning, that's my guess, but I'm sure one of the guys/gals who actually know what they're talking about will chime in with advice on that.

Thanks fellas.
elof, no, I did not line this. Baby steps... :D I soaked the whole thing. Not sure if I would have been able to flip it just soaking the edges/seams.

Chris the first set of saddle bags I made a very long time ago I did the same way. The similarities are striking, basket with some oak leaves and a dark brown color. Even had the sagging after turning them inside out. Went to using a soft leather gusset works better.
