Well, this is my unsuccessful first try after my ray ban case came apart.
This time around I will simply show you the pictures and do the talking afterwards.

Nice work! It looks like you used the old RayBan case as a pattern! :)

Really pretty nicely done. What are the two hidden slots for? I think the basket weave would have looked a little better if it was placed on a diagonal line, and I think it needed a camouflage border around the tooling. Very neatly done, however.

ah i think the slots you are referring to are just clamp marks. i used the plastic inlay of the original case to help in wetforming the outside and it rubbed of some black smudges.
you are right about the basket weave. it was a trial piece though, first time ever attempting such a large area. as you can tell, i didn't finisch the stamping... this is due to the fact that i didn't have the granite slab back when i did this and my wife was going nuts (rightfully so). i was planning on doing a border stamp.

the whole thing is a mess though.
the whole measure don't align. i used the original case as a pattern, just like leathermistress said, i had to add a bit on outside though for the stitching. the wetforming somehow threw this off... should have given me more leather for the formed part and then cut it to fit.
the snaps also don't align.
and the stamping is not perfect either.
the finish is using druids mix the edges were done using glycerin soap.
i used dacron string for the stitching with the awl in awl, however, it is too "frizzy" for this. i will revert back to the normal yarn.

Nice work! That has to be the most heavy duty sunglasses case around!

Oh, and I put in the plastic lining of the ray ban case. Seems like it lacked stability otherwise. Not heavy duty enough :)
Might be worth a thought though jdk.
