Excuses , excuses . Someone dumped a Sumac tree in my back yard . Ignorant of them and a chance for me to get the B:A:S: out . I,d been itching to take it out since practicing with my Boken . Soft wood . The only reason it took any time at all was the blade binding slightly in the rubbery wood . Ah springtime , off to the front yard and raking duty . An ash seed had taken root the year before . I was letting it go as ash makes both good bows and arrows . This was growing right up against the foundation in a corner . Aside from that it was making it difficult to rake out the corner . Sorry mister Ash . The Kukuuri kid conquers ! Lop ,lop ,lop , quick as you please and its done .
I carefully placed my hand as usual and slid mister tree killer away . It also slit a nice line in the leather about an inch and a half beyond the apex where I usually have my palm . Point barely sticking out it cut a slice as easily as a letter being slit open . Of course silly me thinks of his nice sheath first . Coming along just behind was good sense and a glad feeling that I didn,t grab the sheath a little further back than is my wont .Is this a freak occurence ? I have followed the advice given to me as to basic safety and body position . I will certainly be guiding the Khuk a bit more when sliding it in from now on.The sheath was nice and tight , no looseness to the outer leather indicating something wrong on the inside . I think the sheath is easily repaired . I will just lift the two edges to apply some rubber cement , let it tack up and then apply a wrap bandage until cured which doesn,t take long at all .
