ME!

You guys warned me to not wrap the handle of my Izula while using the sheath to cover the blade, but NOOOOOOOO I just couldn't listen to you guys.

Well, I am super lucky that I just got a little slice when I was tightening the knot at the end of the handle this morning. That thing shot out of the sheath like poop out of a sick baby and just caught my finger. No stitches needed but it's bleeding like crazy.

And this is where everyone gets to chime in and say TOLD you so.j/k. +1 on the superglue it works great. been there done that several times. hhmmm think i should of learned a lesson by now.

I’m telling you man, tying the finishing knot on an Izula cord wrap with the knife in the sheath is dangerous!

(Looks down at scar on finger)

That's why whenever I'm doing paracord work on a knife, I throw a couple layers of electrical tape over the blade edge. Prevents that kinda thing most of the time n

a week ago, i would have been making fun of you and laughing to myself...

at least you were doing something with yours. i was just holding mine when it attacked. turns out the izula is a viscious, cunning, and patient little predator that will wait for any chance it can catch you not paying attention.

i really don't get it... the retention on the sheath is really great. i have no idea how this thing manages to jump out and grab us.

I gave my buddy a DT Izula for Christmas and the same thing happened as he was finishing the knot. I guess I should have warned him, seeing how many times its happened. Seems almost like a rite of passage though :)

That'll learn ya'!

I still can't get me Izzies to bite me, though. But I have another one incoming tomorrow (orange KW exclusive -- thanks for the Heads-Up to 22rook22) . . . so I'll have another crack at it. . . .

I had been warned about M1 thumb before I ever got my Garand. Within twenty minutes of receiving it, I had M1 thumb.

Shit happens sometimes.

What, no pics? :)

Have your cam ready, or someone else to make the photo when you slice yourself open from top to bottom!

I wrap the blade with a couple layers of paper towels and then chuck it up in a vise. Safer and allows me to get the wrap tighter.

hate to chuckle at another's discomfort, but I did dang near the same not so long ago.
I had put a new lanyard on my ESEE RC-6, and attached the sheath to the Molle loops on my CamelBack HAWG. When I jerked the lanyard to pull out the knife, it spun around, and took a chunk out of side of my thumb knuckle. Ouch, indeed.

I don't know exactly how all you guys keep pulling this off. When I wrapped my Izula I did it in the sheath and was simply careful not to exert pressure on the sheath itself. When I was doing handle work on my Izy (the new handle prevents the sheath from fitting) I got me a roll of blue painters tape and just wrapped the snot out of the blade with it. With plenty of tape wrapped on the blade I was able to hold it while polished it up on the bench grinder. (My lawyer says to say I am not responsible for any injuries if you attempt to use this method yourself. You are always, ultimately responsible for your own safety!) Stay safe gents!

God bless,
Adam

I'll be sure to post some more pix after I get my orange Izzy wrapped.
Hopefully, it'll be pix of knives without blood on them!

I just tied the paracord handles with out it in the sheath, no sheath no problems. You also seem to go easier and watch what you are doing when it out of the sheath and you are tying in.
