Compare these two articles:

http://www.globalsecurity.org/org/news/2004/040518-how-high.htm

http://www.washtimes.com/national/20040520-115221-2362r.htm

Can you see the agenda-setters fighting it out in the media? In the second article, the press is b1tching at the press!

The first article wants us to dig deeper, and the second one's kinda sayin, "pay no attention to the man behind the curtain..."

You can tell its an election year when media outlets get the floppity-floops.

Many have the personal need to believe Rumsfeld or even Bush ordered the abuse. This fits with the, "they lied to us about Iraq"

I am interested to see what happens in the trial of the young woman- who states she was ordered to pose by some combination of Military Intel, CIA, etc. I am interested because if Security Orgs give up data for the cause of the woman I'll be astounded.

The possible murder in the shower is of far more significance than "abuse' photos.

I saw a recent poll that a majority of Americans think the beheading of a civilian more important than the abuse at prison of Iraqi prisoners.

The media did go too far in the abuse coverage. We've allowed the world then to forget the hanging corpses on the bridge, the beheading of innocents, the gassing of Kurds. Pointing this out usually garners the response of 'that doesn't make it right." The Allies mistreated Nazi war criminals too, but that was a different Age, and the out and out evil of the Third Reich obvious.

So, Ferrous, of all the media outlook juxapostion you could find, that you choose the abuse scandal says much.

The recent Wedding Party episode would be better. Fresh, and fairly non partisan. We have much of the world treating it as an attack of a wedding party, and the explanation of the US military ignored.

that's the beauty...I didn't choose it, the media did!

The wedding pary thing is old news...unless another wedding party recently got trashed...

THese articles are presented as examples of the media eating itself, no more, no less. This is not meant to generate a political discussion, even though some like to draw others into such.

Sorry if I attempted to 'draw you into political discussion' Ferrous- I do give you a harder time than most- I can't help it, I like you so darn much!

Yes, we've allegedly bombed a wedding party in Iraq now too- happened this last week. I don't know if that is 'old news' to you. We were accused of bombing another in Afganistan the Military investigated and said we were fired upon.

If I were invited to a wedding in Iraq now, I think I wouldn't fire my AK 47 off to celebrate.

If I were invited to a wedding in South Austin right now, I wouldn't fire my .30-30 off to celebrate either. Just a cultural thing, I guess.

Here in Kentucky the inner city cultural elites fire off Glocks for weddings, New Years, and July 4th.

Thankfully I was learned better.

IT is my impression the Deep South contained more AK's, SKS'S, and Makarov's than anything else amongst the Fire into the Sky Crowd.
(Where it comes down I know not I.)

It does.
I grew up in Mississippi,Alabama, Louisiana.
That is the deep south.
Louisville is not the deep south. The only difference between the natives and the Hoosiers is this nice river to keep them out. However Kentuckians seem to think they are as southern as it comes. I try not to act too superior. Best thing about Kentucky is the bourbon and the women.

I suppose that I should have said "the ones that I'm familiar with". At least the heatherns that I am friendly with have learned to carry capable weapons. Not that Soviet bloc weapons are anything to ignore, might not be as accurate as ours, but good enough and plenty durable.

HMM new museum just opened Frazier museum Might have another thing to add to my short list of good things about Kentucky.

By all means tell us about Kentucky ladies.

Spectre is from the South- and he likes high end firearms. We'll have to ask him if he started on an Ak when he was teething.

The implication that Kentuckians are not Southern will not play well in Logan County, suh.
