Hi guys, it's been a while. I go through phases where I regain enough sanity to stop throwing all my money towards more knives, and I have to stop looking at them online or I'll relapse. My long unemployment also gave me some monetary motivation towards not falling off the wagon. But I'm 5 months into a new job, and while I was unemployed I promised myself that the first knife I would buy after I got a job would be a Small Sebenza. That glorious day was yesterday! I decided on the Insingo and this makes my 2nd ti framelock, and I am hooked.
Before the Insingo showed up, I was in love with my Sage 2 and lusting after other ti framelocks, but I also loved a host of other types of knives/locks/materials and had a varied laundry list of other knives I wanted. But the Sebenza is much more of a revelation than I expected it to be. It's a little hard to describe how much better it feels than the Sage 2, especially since the Sage 2 is very well made, rock solid, with no slop. But the fact is right now, all I want are more ti framelocks, and some small part of me regrets ever buying anything else. Needless to say, my wishlist just got a bit smaller and whole lot more expensive.
Seeing as how there's a million threads about how awesome Sebenzas are, I'm not going to go into much detail about everything amazing about it (it would be too long and nobody would read it), but being a critical person I can't not say something about the two minor issues I have with it. The first isn't really something I have a problem with, I was just a little surprised when I noticed it. The hollow grind and swedge grind are not perfectly symmetrical, I'm guessing they must be hand ground? The 2nd is something that most people probably don't have a problem with, and that is the thumbstud. Ouch. The spydie hole spoiled me.
Anyways, I just wanted to say hi, share my new blade, and post a crappy cell phone pic.
