So that was quick
. Loved almost everything about the plain Large Sebenza 31 Drop Point I got a little over a week ago (some of you may have seen my previous thread about it
), so I went ahead and ordered the plain Insingo variant since it was still in stock at one of my favorite dealers at the time. These variants seem to go quick from what I've seen so I went for it and am glad I did.
The action on my drop point was the one thing I wasn't really too keen on when i got it if I were being honest. It was extremely stiff to open (had a sore thumb the next day) and it had a few "hitches" during the blade travel on the open and close. It did break in a bit over the course of a week in use but it still wasn't great imo. Eventually I disassembled, cleaned, then lubed with the fluorinated grease, and it was MUCH better with smoother open/close blade travel. Well I don't mind taking things apart and cleaning, but I know not everyone would feel the same way especially after paying that much for a knife.
My new Insingo example on the other hand already has the broken in "bank vault" action out of the box, so not sure why the drop point wasn't like that. The Insingo certainly made a perfect first impression for me compared to the drop point, but only a sample size of two.
At any rate, absolutely LOVE the Insingo blade shape. Always loved knives with the subtle continuous curve type edges as they've just felt more useful for pretty much anything in my experience. Easier to sharpen too imo. I opted to buy the drop point first since that's the classic blade shape, but if I happen to buy more CRK's in the future I'll likely just go for the Insingo shape. Excited to get more use out of these two
Didn't notice until now I didn't have the DOB in the photo, but it was 10/7/2024 for those curious.
