This D'Holder Natchez has a Western Canadian Cedar Burl handle.

The knife is sitting on a part of the very burl the handle was made from.

I don't know how D'holder does it but he seems to be able to get more depth and chatoyance from his wood handles than anyone I've seen other than Scott Slobodian. Looking at the cedar block, I wouldn't have thought that it could look as beautiful as it does on that handle.

I agree with you. I think(being non-artistic myself) that it has something to do with his artistic background/training.

He can match raw materials in a manner that boggles my mind when I compare the rough work to the finished product. I would never have been able to envision the final outcome in most instances.

Here's another D'Holder from the same burl - this is a knife I gave my son for Christmas (notice the sun in the engraving by Darren Reeves).
