For a knife maker who has been producing for 35 years, I find a lack of content across all media on Andre De Villiers. ADV knives are everywhere and well publicized, but there is little about the man behind the knives. What prompted this query and subsequent search is what appears to be a production number on the blade of my S35VN Warspike. So naturally, I was curious regarding my blades place in the run. Sadly, I have been unable to find any information on the number or even mention of numbered knives. Anyone have any information on ADV?

I wish I could help but unfortunately he has absolutely nothing to do with any local South African knife making organisations and attends no local shows. He literally has no local South African footprint.I have an early custom he made me in around '97. At that time he was a member of the Knifemakers Guild of South Africa and attended the annual show, which is where I met him. I haven't seen him for years. (edit..actually I saw him in his booth at Blade in '19)
There has been a lot of speculation as to where the parts and knives are actually made. As I understand it he has been asked repeatedly on several social media platforms to show pictures of his production facility but I have not actually seen any, nor do I know anyone in the South African knife scene who has ever seen his workshop/production facility. Make of that what you will.
