I just received my first Andre DeVilliers knife, and I'm very impressed with this makers work. I do not know who does his Damascus, but it is beautiful. His attention to detailis fantastic, and this is not going to be my last piece from him. Here are some pictures...

Well I found out who made the Damascus for this knife. I e-mailed Andre', and he told me that it was made by a fellow South African by the name of Bertie Rietvelt... Now I'm a happy camper!

That is a great looking knife.

I have one from Andre that Larry at Knifeart designed and had Andre make. They call it the Advocate. The work is great. I have the prototype in ATS-34.

Would you have a picture of it Jeff?

You have some very nice knives there Senator. I can't believe it...I have the same model 16 Carson, but mine is all damascus, including the handle. Here are a few more of my pets...<center>

jmp 343.Interesting. Larry also sold me what was represented as " the " prototype of that knife. I wonder what's going on.

So far there have been only two Advocate knives made - both prototypes.

They are different in several ways which I will mention a little latter. Many of the modifications made were because of the input of BladeForums.com here at this forum.

First prototype was made after my initial design with Andre. It has a polished g-10 handle and ATS-34 blade. The second prototype made has a BG-42 blade, polished g-10 handle and exposed laynard hole. Both are marked prototype -which they are.

Because of Andre's difficulty of obtaining BG-42 in South Africa there is likely to be a third prototype - with a damasteel blade.

Hope this clears everything up.

Larry
