My dad is a big race fan (Formula 1 is his fave, but nothing like that around here) and I was thinking about doing an Andretti Champ Ride for him. It's three laps around Kansas Speedway at full speed, with a professional driver at the wheel, in an Indy car. Has anyone ever done this? Is it worth the $100?

Once I started thinking about this, I looked into the F1 series. Unfortunately, there is only ONE F1 race in the USA each year. If I was a super baller, I'd take him to Italy for a race, but let's get real!

Anyway, the one F1 race in the USA every year is in Indianapolis. So, a fairly long ride (probaly 10 hours or so) for us, but it would be fun. So, I'm thinking about making this a possible birthday/Father's Day gig for next year. Me, my brother, my bro-in-law, and maybe some other males from the family could head to Indy for a weekend of boozing and car racing. I'm no race fan, but even I would enjoy the hell out of this, and if I met up with them in Des Moines we could roadtrip together and it'd be fun. We'll see... I already researched where to sit, etc, so I just need to get everyone on board...

Book your rooms early.
And send him on that ride anyway :D

Did you look into any of the driving schools?
Skip Barber, I think Richard Petty might have one, Bob Bonderant (sp?)...
He may like that.
