Hey All,
I only found out a few weeks ago that Andy Blackton (Custom Knife Maker) and a very very nice gentleman passed away recently. My very first "Custom" knife was built by Mr. Blackton. I have used it all over the US. on hunts with my friends. I have about 30 or so hash marks on the Micarta scales for each of the Med to Large Game I used the knife to process. I purchased this knife at a Safari Club International Dinner in the Detroit area around 1984. I would have been 23 years old. It was also the first time I ever used a credit card. Mr. Blackton had a table there in the "Goods For Sale" area and he talked to me at length about knives and how he made them. I remember as if it were last night. I sent the knife back only two times for sharpening and each time it was back lightning fast and razor sharp at no expense to me. I use smaller knives in the field now with one exception. My best friend and long time hunting Buddy insist that his Deer "when he gets one" Is dressed out by the Blackton. So to this day I have this knife on me during our MI. deer season. This is just my little tribute to the man who built my first Custom knife. If anyone else has any Blacktons out there Please post them. Have a great weekend!!! ~kevin~
