I am lucky enough to be on a roll when it comes to nice sheaths arriving these last few days. First there was Beautiful leather/Snakeskins for the MoFo. Today what arrives but my Mistress, back from Andrew. He made the most Awesome Kydex/Kevlar sheath for her. This sheath could be a weapon in itself. As the last person to get one of these stated. The fit is just perfect. It clicks into and out of the sheath flawlessly. Two layers of .090 Kydex sandwiching a layer of Kevlar cloth sounds bulky. It isn't! It feels sleak and solid on the leg. This sheath is something as Nuclear Tough as the blade contained within it. All edges are smoothed and rounded nicely.
Andrew, I LOVE IT!!! It appeals to my desire to have things I count on overbuilt. This sheath is Tank tough!!:D

I still say that knife is beautiful and would match my Ruger Vaqueros quite nicely.

Awesome sheath to go with that blade! Andrew does fine work.

Now go see if you can bust it. :D

Sweet! I beat that thing could take or give a beating. Nice job Andrew and nice score AA:cool:

Thanks for the kind words guys :D

That was a fun project! Rick is a helluva good guy to work with and he did a FANTASTIC job on that Mistress

Come on guys...a nuclear knife deserves a nuclear sheath :p

I wish I had the talent to make sheaths like that or to do a "handle job" on my own knives. Who am I kidding? I just wish I had talent.:grumpy:

Thanks for the compliment Andrew. Coming from someone that has seen plenty of Busses, that is a heck of a statement. :D It was a lot of fun getting this project done. Anyone that needs a killer sheath, built to take anything you could throw at it, Andrew is the man!! :D These Kyvlex sheaths are Beauty and the Beast rolled into one!

I'm interested in getting some kydex-kevlar sheaths made. Please email me with any information at:

Mikespinak@hotmail.com

And please don't think I'm being impolite if it takes me a while to get your mail and respond. I'm not always near an internet connection.

I got my SH-e sheath from Andrew about 2weeks ago and it rocks, seeing your BM-e sheath I see that Andrew made some changes from the orignal design. The quick release buckle on the leg strap, was one of the changes I made to mine also, I wound up using a drop leg strap from a pistol holster. For anyone on the fence about these sheaths- Andrew is the real deal, and so is his work!:D

Hey Guys....

I haven't been following this thread too much..

This may be a stupid question,, but...:)

What exactly is the function of the Kevlar ??

Eric...

To, uh, make the sheath bullet proof? ;)

From what I understand, it's basically a strength enhancement thing. You know, to make a sheath that you could hammer nails with.

The mission statement of these kyvlex sheaths is durability in extremely cold temperatures (-20 degrees). From the testing Carl's done, it appears they meet that mission.

As the temperature drops, the kydex becomes brittle. However, the kevlar keeps its famous ultra-strong qualities and helps durability (to break, the sheath must stretch the kevlar, which is VERY hard).

It seems many of these fatty fanatic hogs (including me...except for the hog part) like the beefiness and feel of these nuclear sheaths as well. Quite frankly, they make every other piece of kydex I've handled feel flimsy (although except in cold conditions that is illusory as far as their durability).

BTW, it's not just the kevlar that strengthens the sheath. The webbing attachment is also extremely durable, somethat that Carl thought up, and I think quite unique.

I'd enjoy discussing this with those interested at Blade in more detail :D

Andrew,
Everyone that has seen this sheath is overwhelmed by the shear awesome solidity of this thing.:D Some of these guys are hard to impress too!! I love it more every day. It is too cool!!
