Hi Andy... I have a question. Why does my VN Tactical have a round handle? Not to complain, as I'm very satisfied, but all the others I've seen have the handles with criss-crossed "flats" on the side. The knurled acetal handle on mine is completely round. Why is this?

While our magazine ads depict our older style handle, the new handle has been in existence since Jan' of year and been on our site for almost as long.

The new handle is the result of Soldier input to simplify design and make it more comfortable...AND stronger. While the number of repair/replacents we have had to do on VT handles can be counted on one hand, not one of the new handles have failed to date.

Do you mean the ENTIRE handle is round, or just the bottom 5 inches? The flats should still be there, but not hatched anymore.

Hope this helps...

Thanks!

Andy, I went back and checked the picture on your site (hadn't seen this one before), and mine is different in that almost the entire handle is round. I measured, and the flats extend down only 2 1/2" from the bottom edge of the hawk's head. Quite different from the pic on the site. Curious, yeah? Also, the head is not stamped with the company logo, as is my First Edition VN hawk. That might be the norm....I dunno.

OK...I know the handle you have now. There are only a small number of them that were absorbed into our "general population" of handles. They were the overage we milled for an order we got from a small Marine unit that was headed to the Sandbox.

If you don't like it, you are free to send it in to the shop and we will refit it with our standard handle that has longer flats.

The one you have is pretty strong though, so you might want to enjoy the extra-performance the additional material provides by way of strength.

On the head stamping, we only did that on our first production run in early 2001. Our field and tactical heads have been sterile for well over a year now.

Hope this helps...

Thanks.

Appreciate your quick replies. I'll hang onto this one! I did figure it would be a stronger model if indeed it was different from the pic, and it's cool to know that I have a somewhat unique model that is being carried by some of our finest warriors....Take care.
