I'd say that there is some demand for some FF machetes around here!

If you crank 'em out, I am guessing that there are quite a few here who will buy them as fast as you build them. I would sign on for a 12" and a 16" with micarta handles in a heartbeat!

Anybody else want some?

pssst .. ya might try PMing Ken or Andy. ;)

Well that's a shame. I PM'ed Bamboo about it maybe a week ago and I was told there wasn't any and probably won't be any for a while. Hopefully they can get those done and out. I would love to get another 12" but with solid pins instead of hollow.

I've been interested lately, too, though not yet motivated enough to send a pm. More in that lazy, I-need-to-do-that-sooner-or-later kind of way. A machete is far from a need for me.... More like a growing desire that may not yet quite be ready to be born.

Still, I'm keeping my eyes open. 😉

Well .. I took that pic about 3 weeks ago, so those may have been sold already. :(

I checked my messages and found I spoke out of turn, it was closer to 2 weeks ago. I think his response had more to do with them not having time to finish what they have because of how busy they have been on their standard blades.

I have a problem with the machetes. They used to be a great revenue source because they were twice as fast as the knives. But this isn't the case anymore. We're just as fast at knives. So, the revenue is half or less than what we need to get by. I tried to get the scales CNC'd, but we have issues that won't allow this to happen. We have a few close to done, but I've not shaped the handle. Anyway, long story short, its hard to make myself not work on knives rather than the machetes. I need to train someone to do the handle shaping on them. But I haven't done that yet. Also, I don't know if that would be a deal killer for y'all.

I have no problem with someone else shaping the handles. People like your machetes and I for one would like a larger one, so if more are made, they'll probably sell.

I think having a another person shaping the handles on the machetes is perfectly acceptable. The handle design is the real draw for me not necessarily the fine detail. Given the price point of the machete your more likely to use it as intended. Maybe doing a semi-production machete with the upcoming semi-production knives is the solution. Although I'd really like a custom 12" machete with emerald shadetree over orange hint hint.

Derek, I have you on the machete wait list after our last conversation. Sorry if I didn't make myself clear before. Basically it is exactly what Andy said above, we get so caught up making the knives that the machetes get perpetually placed on the backburner. But... maybe I'll have a go at handle shaping - be good practice for making my own knives. And if so we'll make sure and have Andy give them a once over before they leave the shop.
