how do those of you that have them like them? Are they balanced and lively in the hand? I'd like to pull the trigger on one but it seems like they could be a bit cumbersome to wield.

I have one and it feels quite lively in the hand (not as blade heavy as many khuks.

I had one and it was the only khuk I didn't like. The handle was way too fat for my medium/small hands. The spine thickness seemed excessive and yet because of the grind, the tip was not very robust.
I've got a HI Mountain Bowie that's about the same length but half the weight. I love it.

I absolutely adore mine. It has definitely saved my bacon a couple times when out in the woods. And it cut my bacon several times out in the woods, so that was nice too. And its the only knife that excels at shopping wood and small cutting tasks back to back. Cant say enough great things about it. My hands are fairly large and the handle i find to be the perfect size

I'm another huge fan. As a matter of fact, if you search through my old posts you'll find I practically gush about the monster:o

It chops, it splits, it slices. It's short enough to pack, but big enough to work. You can baton with it. You can choke up on the grip and whittle with it. You can hold it in a pinch grip and use it like an ulu.

I have NEVER liked the octagonal grip to it. However, horn and wood are readily modified. I just take a sharp knife and scrape the edges off then hit it with some sand paper.

Love it.

It's a toss up between the AKB and the 14" Trisul as my favorite HI blade.
