If you guys had to pick one (God forbid  ) of the Ang Khola models for heavy camp word which would it be? Still must be able to move ligt and fast with a pack possibly.

Also if you were picking one for combat, what would be your personal choice?

15" or 16", with a target weight of 24-26 ounces. Chiruwa or standard style handle are both fine depending on your preference. This should work for either purpose.

I'd go with the 15" model light enough not to tire you out but still have enough behind it to get the job done. But I tend to like the smaller khukuris 12"-15" so i can where them on my belt and not have them pulling my pants down. My 12" AK feels more like a bent bowie knife the 15" hits with more authority.

my 18" Chiruwa AK is a chopping machine. but Its really too heavy to wear on the same belt thats holding your pants... gotta put a big pistol belt on top.

and its to heavy to carry with you far, unless your not going very far, or are just a hoss and like to carry heavier weights.

I usually use it when I'm car camping, or just a short mile or 2 pack in... beyond that I leave it at home.

but man it chops awesome

I second that...might stretch the length a bit, 16-16.5 OAL, target weight of 24-26 oz. My 16.5, 26 oz CAK is a fantastic blade, never too much to tote, chops with aplomb:thumbup:.

Thanks for all the input guys...they all said you were friendly in here! Really appreciate any additional input.

It is hard to tell, looking at the pictures, what the difference is between the handles of the Chiruwa and maybe a 15" AK. What is the difference besides maybe some length?

the Chiruwa has a full tang, the metal of the blade extends the full width of the handle and the wood or bone on the handle is two pieces on either side of it, its for addtional strength, even tho the normal way is plenty strong.

keep in mind that some have commented that the chiruwa handle can change the balance of the blade substantially and more vibration can be felt from chopping...

some have also commented on regular handles being more comfortable :)

im sure somebody will chime in with their experiences on the topic... sit tight
