Do Benchmark knives have the same bevel angle for all models? What is that angle? Thanks for your help
Sorry. Brain phart! Meant to say Benchmade.

I think all Benchmades are hand-sharpened and therefore the angle varies. My experience with about 30-40 knives is that most of them come with about a 50-degree inclusive angle. The major exception to this are the Ritter Griptilians which come with a more narrow angle (which is a good thing). I prefer something in the 30-40 degree inclusive angle range.

Thanks that what I was guessing, but doubted myself because I expected them to be more narrow...no more than about 40 degrees. I am a little surprised.

Benchmade angles are typically 15-18 degrees each side, 30-36 degrees inclusive.

Not even close. They are usually uneven bevels, and while one side might be 18º, the other side will be well over 20º. They are hand sharpened with no jig to create consistent bevels.

All mine seem to be around 50 degree inclusive and the angle can vary along the bevel from heel to tip and side to side. It's worse on some than others.

My experience with benchmade is they are typically 20-25° each side. So 40-50° inclusive.

I'm going to agree with red and jastab. I find they are somewhere in between 40 and 50 degrees inclusive out of the box.

So even though they come pretty sharp already, it would be a good use of time to sharpen one right out of the box? Assuming you wanted a consistent and polished bevel instead of "factory"sharp...

Yep. Of course, you can wait until it needs to be sharpened and then reprofile...

Have never handled one that was less than 40 out of the box. One exception could possibly be my 710 that I've yet to sharpen because it hasn't gotten much use in the year I've owned it. It actually came phonebook paper slicing sharp out of the box, and the bevel actually appears wide enough that it may be at least 40 degrees.

my 950 came with dead-consistent 30 degrees inclusive. on the other hand; my 553 came with almost 60-70 degrees. all my other benchmades came with 40° +/- 5°.
i guess its just luck
